Difference between microcrystalline wax and polyethylene wax

Posted on 2021-06-11
Polyethylene wax (PE wax), also known as polymer wax. It is widely used as it has excellent cold resistance, heat resistance, chemical resistance and wear resistance. Microcrystalline wax additive is a kind of refined synthetic wax with near microcrystalline nature, featuring good luster, high melting point and light color, its structure is tight, firm and smooth. It can be interfused with various natural waxes, and can increase the melting point of low waxes and improve the performance of crude waxes. Microcrystalline wax itself is as white as jade and rubs with light, which brings extremely favorable effect on the production of light-colored products. Microcrystalline waxes are milky white or pale yellow. Polyethylene waxes are generally divided into four types: oligomeric waxes, cracking waxes, polymeric waxes and blending waxes. Generally, they are mainly used in improving the fluidity of polyolefin plastics, improving the dispersibility of fillers and additives, etc. They are also used as internal lubricants of rubber and plastic materials. Polyethylene wax has good compatibility with polyethylene, polypropylene, polyvinyl waxate, ethylene propylene rubber and butyl rubber. It can improve the fluidity of polyethylene, polypropylene, ABS and the demoulding of polymethyl methacrylate and polycarbonate. For PVC and other external lubricants, polyethylene wax also has stronger internal lubricating effect compared to other external lubricants.
