Paraffin wax is a kind of mineral wax, which is a mixture of hydrocarbons with the number of carbon atoms about 18 to 40, mainly composed of straight-chain alkanes (about 80% to 95%), a small amount of alkanes with individual branched chains and long side chains by solvent refining, solvent dewaxing or wax paste made by wax freezing and crystallization and pressing, and then by solvent de-oiling and refining. The main components are straight-chain alkanes (about 80% to 95%), and a small amount of alkanes with individual branched chains and monocyclic cyclic alkanes with long side chains (the combined content of both is less than 20%). The main quality indicators are melting point and oil content, the former indicating solidification temperature and the latter indicating purity. According to the melting point, there are several specifications such as 52, 54, 56, 58, 60, 62, 64, etc.
Synthetic paraffin wax is a synthetic hydrocarbon obtained by Fischer-Tropsch or ethylene zwitterion polymerization. The synthetic hydrocarbon can be produced with different melting points by solvent degreasing or vacuum distillation. Synthetic paraffin waxes are not dependent on the resource endowment of petroleum itself, and all indicators can be obtained according to the synthesis or separation plan, and the product generally has a higher n-alkane rate (straight chain alkane content) than paraffin wax, and a wider range of melting points to choose from.
It can be used for plastic processing lubrication, paper waterproofing, corrugated cardboard moisture-proofing, coating waterproofing and wear-resisting, printing ink wear-resisting improvement, impregnation of electric insulating paper and cloth, fruit preservation, improving rubber anti-aging, electrical components insulation, etc. It can also be used for cosmetic raw materials, precision casting, floor wax, car wax, hot melt adhesive, wax paper, crayons, candles, components of copy paper and packaging materials, etc.
