Physical and chemical properties
Formaldehyde is a colorless gas with strong irritation, which is irritating to the eyes, nose, and throat. The relative density of formaldehyde gas is 1.06, which is slightly heavier than air and easily soluble in water.
The formaldehyde-releasing preservative is a hydroxymethyl organic substance after condensation polymerization, which can slowly depolymerize within a certain period of time and release a small amount of formaldehyde, wax additive duramax so as to achieve a certain sterilization and antibacterial effect. Since formaldehyde is suspected to be the third category of carcinogens, people can be said to have turned a blind eye to formaldehyde. In fact, many formaldehyde-releasing preservatives have been approved by European and American countries, and can even be used for preservatives in cosmetics.
Formaldehyde has a highly effective killing effect on various microorganisms, including bacterial propagules, spores, mycobacteria, fungi and viruses, and is a commonly used bactericidal preservative. Its anti-bacterial performance is stronger than that of mold.
