Physical and chemical properties
BIT is light brown or yellow-brown liquid, soluble in water, low molecular weight alcohol and glycol, etc. The boiling point is 100°C, boiling without flashing, the relative density is 1.08 at 25°C, and the pH of its aqueous solution is 4.5-6.5. Stable in the presence of ammonia.
Minimum inhibitory concentration MIC
BIT does not release formaldehyde, does not contain halogen, is non-volatile, and has good stability: it is thermally stable, and only slightly loses weight at 180°C; it is stable in acid and alkali, and can be used in a wide range of pH values; it is chemically stable and compatible with amines. BIT and its preparations have no corrosive effect on metals.
