TMG Tinfilter needs to be well dispersed in the ester product to allow contact with the tin soap and absorption, stirring is often necessary. The tin removal time depends on the viscosity of the ester. The lower the viscosity the shorter the removal time, e.g. dioctyl phthalate or trimethylolpropane oleate requires about 30 to 90 min at 90°C. After stirring, cooling and filtration, the addition of some filter aid can improve the filtration efficiency.
When TMG Tinfilter is added in the esterification reactor, the unit needs to be thoroughly cleaned after the reaction, otherwise the residual TMG Tinfilter will reduce the catalytic effect of the subsequent reaction.
