The role of wax – isolation and bonding

Wax is generally considered to have good anti-sticking and isolation properties, so it is often used as a release agent, release agent and other products in papermaking, rubber and plastic processing, metal die casting and other fields, among which polyethylene wax emulsion is widely used. But what is interesting is that in the packaging water-based sealant products that paper products are bonded to PE and PP films, there are formulas that use polyethylene wax emulsion, rosin and VAE emulsion to compound, and good results are achieved. Polyethylene wax emulsion mainly plays the role of increasing the adhesion with PE and PP films in the formula.

A type of water-based hot melt adhesive, also known as blister oil, can be made by compounding polyethylene wax, Fischer-Tropsch wax emulsion and resin. The properties of these products are similar to those of varnishes after film formation at room temperature, but they can be bonded and compounded with plastics by thermocompression, and are often used for packaging in fields such as medicine and food.

Vinyl Vinyl Acetate (EVA) Wax Emulsion, ethylene acrylic acid copolymer dispersion (EAA)  Wax Emulsion are often used as base coats on plastic printing to improve print adhesion.
