What is PTFE powder used for ?

Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is a synthetic fluoropolymer of tetrafluoroethylene that has numerous applications. PTFE powder, also micronized PTFE is a refined low molecular weight PTFE, which is almost entirely consumed in the non-fluoropoly- mer industry.

PTFE is hydrophobic: neither water nor water-containing substances wet PTFE, as fluorocarbons demonstrate mitigated London dispersion forces due to the high electronegativity of fluorine.

Micronized PTFE is very fine powder. PTFE has one of the lowest coefficients of friction against any solid. Where used as a lubricant, PTFE reduces friction, wear and energy consumption of machinery.

Superior friction-fighting agent for using:
Bike Chains
Musical Instruments (Including Grand Piano Knuckles)
Electric Razors
Zippers
Drawer hinges and drawer slides
Garden Tools
Small gear sets, toys, model trains and race cars
This particle size works great for making flares (with Al dust) or as a dry lubricant in tiny places like locks.
